What a way to cap off the season!
Our Friday Intramural Hockey League came to an end last week, but not without some great drama!
The championship game took place first and featured the number one seeded Athletics Blue taking on the number two seeded Athletics Grey squad. The two best teams in the league put on an incredible show for those that came out to watch with a fast-paced, intense battle that was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, which meant that we would have to play overtime!
However, overtime too was not able to determine a victor, which meant that we would be forced to go to the ever entertaining, exhilarating, edge-of-your-seat event known as the shootout!
In the end, Athletics Grey’s Cam Dykstra’s goal in the shootout solidified the win and championship for his team and set off a wild celebration among the Athletics Grey squad! Dykstra also scored Athletics Grey’s goal in regulation and no doubt was a key component to the team’s championship.
Meanwhile in the consolation final, Athletics Gold ended their season on a positive note as they secured a 5-3 win over Athletics Green.
So just like that, the season is over, but what a great season it was! Congratulations to Athletics Grey for winning the title, but a big shout out must go out to all the participants who helped make the league so fun and entertaining. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did!
