Notice to our athletics community:

As Canada and the world respond to COVID-19, Carleton University is responding to this challenging evolving situation as soon as possible.

The safety of the Carleton community, including our customers and their families, is our top priority. We are following the advice of Ottawa Public Health and other health agencies.

We value you as a customer and want to reassure you of our commitment to your health and safety.

Please note the following updates:

  • The Fitness Centre remains closed for the time being, but will reopen on September 8, 2020. We are working hard to respond to and meet the requirements of Ottawa Public Health while slowly phasing in our services.
  • Group Fitness remains virtual for the summer. We hope to offer a hybrid model of virtual and in-person classes in the Fall.
  • The POOL will remain closed for the time being. Due to some unexpected mechanical repairs, proposals for a limited reopen have been pushed to Monday August 17th. This mid-August reopen would make the pool available on evenings & weekends only for some Carleton programs and community competitive club rentals. Fitness Swims for Members will likely not be scheduled until after Labour Day. Aquatic programs & swims that we can offer safely will be announced.
  • The Ice House will be open on July 15 for rentals in the evenings and weekends only.
  • Camps is offering a modified program, utilizing a half-day model with morning and afternoon offerings. Camp have limited offerings and are following the advice and guidelines provided by Ontario Public Health and other health agencies. Camps is also offering an online format for select camps. Please visit athletics.carleton.ca/camps for further details.

We continue to re-evaluate the situation and guidelines as this will determine how and when we re-open the facility.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Brenning

Assistant Vice-President (Recreation and Athletics)
