This update reflects best practices across aquatic facilities and is designed to support a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All swimmers, including Aquafit participants, will be required to wear a\u00a0Carleton Athletics\u2013issued wristband\u00a0to enter the pool. Children under 14 who do not pass or choose not to take the swim test will be required to remain in the shallow end for their safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"wristband-supervision-guidelines\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wristband &amp; Supervision Guidelines<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Age<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Requirements<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Guardian: child ratio<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Wristband<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">0 \u2013 6 years<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Accompanied by a parent\/guardian 14 years or older who&nbsp;must be actively participating and within arms reach at all times, in the water.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">1 Adult: 2 children<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Red<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">7 -13 years<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">DO NOT pass the swim test or choose not to complete a swim test. Always accompanied by parent\/guardian 14 years or older&nbsp;who&nbsp;must be actively participating and within arms reach at all times. Must remain in the shallow end of the pool.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">1 Adult: 4 children OR<br>1 Adult: 6 children in PFDs<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Yellow<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">7 -13 years<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Pass the swim test. Always accompanied by parent\/guardian (14+) who must be actively supervising from deck.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">N\/A<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Green<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">14+ years<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">May access the facility without direct supervision.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">N\/A<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><em class=\"myprefix-text-italic\">Other colour<\/em><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-you-can-expect\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Can Expect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adult members can quickly collect their wristband when swiping their membership card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wristbands will be provided at the\u00a0Welcome Centre\u00a0upon check-in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children who have previously passed the swim test will receive the appropriate wristband automatically.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"swim-test-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Swim Test Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To pass the swim test, swimmers must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Swim 25m without touching the bottom\/sides of the pool<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate the ability to comfortably submerge their face in the water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"health-safety-reminder\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Health &amp; Safety Reminder<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Individuals with medical conditions should ensure they are fit to participate and, when appropriate, be accompanied by someone who can provide support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We appreciate your cooperation as we implement these changes to keep our aquatic environment safe and welcoming for all users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact us at&nbsp;613-520-2600, email&nbsp;aquatics@carleton.ca, or speak with our Welcome Centre staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for your understanding and support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beginning&nbsp;December 1, Carleton University Athletics will introduce a new&nbsp;wristband policy&nbsp;for all public swims.
