Due to the introduction of the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program during the Winter Term, that includes separate Swim Patrol classes (Rookie, Ranger, Star) on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings … we will not be offering the Junior Lifeguard program other than during the March Break Camp (March 13-17).

The JUNIOR LIFEGUARD CLUB is serious FUN with a serious purpose. It is an introduction to ‘lifesaving’ coached in a fun way. Junior Lifeguards will be introduced to the 3-level Canadian Swim Patrol program (Rookie, Ranger and Star Patrol). The JLC is a place for The Junior Lifeguard Club (JLC) offers serious fun for kids 9 years and up who can swim at least 25m and tread water for 2 minutes:

  • learn about lifesaving and lifeguarding
  • experience lifeguarding in a Club atmosphere
  • make friends and have a great time
  • get fit and strive for personal bests
  • begin to progress through the 3-level Swim Patrol program and prepare for Bronze Star.

Carleton University suspended vaccination & masking requirements for participation in in-person Carleton activities in May/June 2022. The evolution of Covid-19 and public health conditions are difficult to predict, so these decisions were contingent on current conditions and directions continuing. Masking and other safety measures may be reinstated at a later time. Carleton University does recommend use of masks indoors when physical distance cannot be maintained.
