Canadian Swim Patrol – Level 1
The Canadian Swim Patrol program is the on-ramp to lifeguarding. Ability is the only prerequisite.

Rookie Patrol is the first level of the Lifesaving Society’s 3-level Canadian Swim Patrol Program for swimmers who are ready to go beyond learn-to-swim.
Swim Patrol 1 – Rookie
Swimmers continue stroke development with 50 m swims of front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke. Lifesaving Sport skills include a 25 m obstacle swim and 15 m object carry. First aid focuses on assessment of conscious victims, contacting EMS and treatment for bleeding. Fitness improves in 350 m workouts and 100 m timed swims.

Important Notes
- Effective January 1, 2026, a Capital Renewal Fee (CRF) of 3% will apply to select non-student facility rentals, programs, and services. This fee supports long-term facility maintenance and renewal, with all funds directed to a dedicated capital renewal fund. Certain exemptions may apply. - Refunds or credits for missed private/semi-private or group lessons will not be provided.
- Make-up lessons can not be arranged, and substitute (non-registered) swimmers are not permitted.
- Please arrive (10-15) minutes before the start of the class and proceed to the Welcome Centre Desk to check-in before going to the pool-deck.
- There will be several showers available for brief usage.
- The main locker rooms will be available and some lockers are available for day use.
- Bringing clothes & valuables to the pool deck in a gym-bag is recommended.
- Includes Lot 5 Parking.
- Registration is required in advance and space is limited.
- The Pool Gallery is available for parent/guardians.
