Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid Instructor
Develop the expertise to guide participants through essential first aid skills.
Standard First Aid Instructor
The Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor course prepares candidates to teach first aid courses up to and including Workplace Standard First Aid. Current First Aid Instructors may teach and certify Basic and Emergency First Aid, CPR-A,-B,-C and AED. They may teach (but not certify) Standard First Aid candidates (see Examiners).
First Aid Instructors who hold CPR-HCP may teach (but not certify) CPR-HCP (see Examiners). First Aid Instructors who hold Airway Management may teach (but not certify) Airway Management (see Examiners).
Candidates must go on to complete their Examiners qualification to certify participants in the first aid level for which they hold.
Prerequisite
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid certification (need not be current)
Required
- First Aid Award Guide
- Canadian First Aid Manual (from participant Standard First Aid course – option add-on during registration if you have not already purchased one during a previous course)
- Instructor Manual (from Lifesaving, Swim or SFA Instructor courses – option add-on during registration if you have not already purchased one with another instructor course)
- First Aid Instructor Resource Download – Must purchase this directly from the Lifesaving Society.
Prerequisites
- Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid
- Standard First Aid from a training agency approved by the Ontario government

Please Note
This is a 20hr course. Candidates are progressively evaluated, so 100% attendance is required.

Dates & Times
May 23 & 30th 9:30am – 6:00pm (In-person session) and May 28th 6:00–9:30 pm (virtual session)

- Directions for picking up your manuals at Carleton Athletics Alumni Hall will be emails to you closer to the course start date.
Cost
- $172 ($166.84 + 3% CRF) +tax
- $35 (First Aid Award Guide)
- + additional add-on reference materials as needed

Important Notes
- Effective January 1, 2026, a Capital Renewal Fee (CRF) of 3% will apply to select non-student facility rentals, programs, and services. This fee supports long-term facility maintenance and renewal, with all funds directed to a dedicated capital renewal fund. Certain exemptions may apply.
