Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor
Develop the expertise to guide participants through essential first aid skills.
First Aid Instructor
The Lifesaving Society’s First Aid Instructor course is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and resources required to organize, plan, and deliver Lifesaving Society First Aid awards up to and including Intermediate First Aid and CPR -A and -C.
Current First Aid Instructors may teach and certify CPR -A and -C and Anaphalaxis Rescuer. Current First Aid Instructors may teach Basic and Intermediate First Aid, but only First Aid Examiners can certify candidates in those courses.
Current First Aid Instructors who hold the Society’s Airway Management may teach (but not certify) Airway Management as only current First Aid Examiners who hold the Society’s Airway Management can certify candidates.
Candidates must go on to complete their Examiners qualification to certify participants in the first aid level for which they hold.
Prerequisite
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid certification (need not be current) or Standard First Aid from a training agency approved by the Ontario government. The Society keeps a list of approved agencies on our website.

- First Aid Award Guide
- Canadian First Aid Manual (from participant Standard First Aid course – option add-on during registration if you have not already purchased one during a previous course)
- Instructor Manual (from Lifesaving, Swim or SFA Instructor courses – option add-on during registration if you have not already purchased one with another instructor course)
- First Aid Instructor Resource Download – Must purchase this directly from the Lifesaving Society.

This is a 20hr course. Candidates are progressively evaluated, so 100% attendance is required.

- Effective January 1, 2026, a Capital Renewal Fee (CRF) of 3% will apply to select non-student facility rentals, programs, and services. This fee supports long-term facility maintenance and renewal, with all funds directed to a dedicated capital renewal fund. Certain exemptions may apply.
