Lifesaving Sport Community Coach (Level 1)
Lifesaving Sport Coach Level 1 provides training for Lifesaving Instructors who wish to coach lifesaving sport at the community level. Lifesaving Sport Coach Level 1 coaches teach and certify all levels of the Society’s Lifesaving Sport Fundamentals program.
Lifesaving Sport Coach Focuses On
- Fundamentals of coaching
- Lifesaving sport skills in the pool or in open water
Prerequisites
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Hold Lifesaving Instructor certification

Required Material
- Canadian Lifesaving Manual
- Same manual used for teaching Lifesaving program (option add-on during registration if you do not have a current copy)
- Instructor Manual
- Manual used for Lifesaving, Swim, NL or SFA Instructor courses (option add-on during registration if you do not have a current copy)
- Coaching Lifesaving
- Required technical reference manual for Lifesaving Sport Coach Level 1 (mandatory add-on during registration)
- Lifesaving Sport Fundamentals
- Outlines item descriptions, purpose statements and performance requirements for each of the five levels in the new Lifesaving Sport Fundamentals Program (mandatory add-on during registration).

Please Note
This is a 12hr course. Candidates are progressively evaluated, so 100% attendance is required.

May 21st 5:00 – 9:00pm (virtual session) AND May 24th 12:30 – 6:30pm (In-person session)

Cost
- $123 ($119.31 + 3% CRF) +tax
- $30 (Lifesaving Sport Fundamental Guide) + $40 (Coaching Lifesaving Manual)
- + additional add-on reference materials as needed

- Effective January 1, 2026, a Capital Renewal Fee (CRF) of 3% will apply to select non-student facility rentals, programs, and services. This fee supports long-term facility maintenance and renewal, with all funds directed to a dedicated capital renewal fund. Certain exemptions may apply.
