National Lifeguard Recertification Course
To remain “current”, National Lifeguards must successfully complete a National Lifeguard recertification exam every 2 years at minimum.
The National Lifeguard recertification exam is your opportunity to demonstrate your skills and recertify your award. You are responsible for reviewing the required content and skills and preparing yourself for the exam. Your exam is based on the National Lifeguard Award curriculum. The required content for this curriculum can be found in your Alert manual and the Canadian Lifesaving Manual.
Prerequisites
- Proof of previous NL certification (date & location) is required.
Lifesaving Society Verification of Identity Policy
Candidates will be required to provide their Instructor/Examiner proof of government-issued ID with a photo, date of birth and name for all original vocational courses and recertification, effective January 1, 2026. For additional information please visit their website.
