Accessible Facilities
Carleton Athletics is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible environment that supports the dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity of all participants. The information below outlines accessibility features and services available across our facilities to support a wide range of needs.
If you require additional accommodations or have questions about accessibility, we encourage you to contact us in advance so we can best support your visit.
Aquatics
The Carleton University Swimming Pool is accessible and available to all users. The pool includes a gentle-incline ramp and a mechanical PAL chair lift to support swimmers with mobility-related accessibility needs.
Aquatics staff are trained to operate the lift. Swimmers are required to be able to transfer on and off the PAL chair lift independently or with assistance from a support person or caregiver of their choice.
Please note that the pool operates at varying capacity throughout the day, and there is no consistent low-stimulus or quieter time.

Fitness Centre
The Carleton Athletics Fitness Centre offers wheelchair-accessible exercise equipment and space to support a variety of fitness goals. Adaptive personal training is available for individuals seeking individualized support, and staff are trained to assist patrons with accessibility needs.
For individuals who may benefit from a lower-traffic environment, including those with sensory sensitivities, the Fitness Centre is generally less busy from opening until the start of Women’s-Only hours. Women’s-Only hours, held daily from 10:00-11:30 AM, also tend to be lower-traffic periods compared to peak times.
Traffic levels may vary, and patrons are encouraged to contact the Fitness Centre in advance if they require additional information to plan their visit.

Elevators
Accessible elevators are available in both the Athletics Building and the Ice House to support access to multiple levels within each facility. Elevators provide access to key program and activity spaces, including the Fitness Centre, Combatives Room, and other designated areas.
Accessible Washrooms & Change Rooms
Accessible washrooms and change rooms are available in both the Ice House and the Fieldhouse. A Family / Gender-Inclusive Change Room is located on the second floor and is available for individuals and families who require a private or inclusive space.
Para Transpo & Accessible Transit
Carleton University is serviced by OC Transpo Para Transpo, which provides accessible, door-to-door transportation across campus. Designated Para Transpo pick-up and drop-off locations are available throughout campus, including near the Ice House and Fieldhouse entrances.
These locations are shown on the university’s interactive accessibility transit map to assist riders in planning accessible routes to and from the Athletics Centre.
In addition, the O-Train Line 2 (Trillium Line) serves the campus with stops near the main Athletics building. All stations and vehicles offer wheelchair-accessible boarding. Riders may access these services using a U-Pass or by paying fare onboard.
For detailed stop locations and an interactive map of all on-campus Para Transpo stops, please visit the Para Transpo Map on the Carleton Accessibility website.
