Exams can be unbelievably stressful and unfortunately for us Carleton kids, there’s no way of getting out of them. In the spirit of the holidays I’ve comprised a list of tips to help you de-stress when studying and hopefully get through your exams peacefully.

Here are 10 ways that will help you survive exam period:

1. Budget Your Time

1

Budget your time by making a study schedule and plan out when you’re going to study. This will help you stay on track and keep you from stressing over time.

2. Eat Healthy

2

Get your daily servings of fruits and veggies and make sure you eat a big breakfast. Nurture your body and it will thank you later when writing exams.

3. Take a Break and Chat with your Friends or Roommates

3

When stress becomes overwhelming chatting it up with friends is a sure way to relieve stress build up in no time.

4. SLEEP!

4

Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep. Take a nap or two if stress becomes too much. Sleeping will resolve stress and help your brain better absorb the information you’ve been studying.

5. Go for a Run Along the Canal

5

Take in Carleton’s campus and the beautiful Ottawa scenery.

6. Cuddle or Play with your Pet

6

If you don’t have one I’m sure you know someone who does. Pets are said to be a great way to relieve stress. Plus they’re ADORABLE.

7. Hit the Gym

7

Stop by Carleton Athletics! Sweating your exams away on the elliptical, in the swimming pool or even at a yoga class will re-energize your body and mind.

8. Find a Method of Studying that Benefits YOU

8

Everyone learns differently so don’t waste time using study methods that cramp your learning style. DO YOU.

9. Listen to Music

9

Blasting the stress away with your favorite tunes is a fun way to get rid of all that exam anxiety.

10. Take a Break and Surf the Web

10

Whether it’s browsing your Facebook news feed, stalking your celeb crushes on Twitter, or reading updates on goravens.ca, social media is an entertaining way to let go of studying stress. Setting a time restriction is a great way to refocus on studying after and stay on track.

Good luck on your exams Ravens and have a fantastic, stress-free break! #CU in 2015.
