National Lifeguard training builds on the fundamental skills taught in the Bronze Medallion and Cross programs and equips candidates with the practical skills and knowledge required of lifeguards. This course is designed for lifesavers who want to seek employment in Lifeguarding locally or across Canada. Prerequisites: 16 years of age by exam date, Bronze CROSS, AND a Standard First Aid certification (neither need to be current). SFA can be from the Lifesaving Society, the Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol. Proof of the SFA is required.
Note: Carleton Aquatics will be offering two Lifesaving Standard First Aid (SFA) courses during the spring session, prior to the beginning of our summer NL Camps. These dates will be announced by the end of March 2017.
The Alert Manual is required for the National Lifeguard Camp. The Alert Manual fee of ($46.00) will be charged automatically at registration. If you would like to opt out of purchasing an Alert Manual because you already have one, you must register at the Welcome Centre in Alumni Hall or call 613 520-4480 to register over the phone.
Note: The Student Member 25% program-fee discount does NOT apply to this certification program.
These Summer 2017 National Lifeguard Camps are (6) day programs. The NL Exams will be held on the afternoons of June 30 (Camp 1), August 4 (Camp 2) and Sept 1 (Camp 3). No alternate exam dates will be provided.
