When the pool reopens on Saturday May 21, advanced booking of swims will no longer be required. All 1/2 pool fitness swims and whole pool recreational swims will be open for public drop-in swimmers. All swims are free for registered carleton students, staff & faculty and community members.
As we prepare to reopen the Carleton Pool, we wanted to take a minute to provide an update on the work that has been done during our annual maintenance period.
We’ve been able to complete most of our work as planned. However, current labour union strike action in the community has meant that some work has not yet been completed as planned and may need to take place after the facility has reopened.
We’re happy to report we’ve been able to complete key projects including:
- Major plumbing systems servicing filtration, drainage and heating were replaced and/or repaired
- Grouting of missing tiles in shallow end
- Replacement of chlorine distribution system piping
- Replacement of bulkhead panels
- Powder coating and refurbishment of lifeguard and starting blocks
- HVAC ductwork high dusting
We’re also in the process of completing some additional work in advance of our reopening:
- Repair of back stairs
- Installation of 4 new LED lights in low light areas
- Repair of tarzan rope
Work yet to be completed, due to labour union strikes:
- Installation of scaffold around block wall near diving board
- Repair of select concrete flooring in Men’s changeroom
We will strive to have any outstanding repairs completed with as minimal impact on your experience as possible.
The Spring Swim schedule, Public Swim fees and more information can be found on the pool’s page.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the pool very soon!
