Power Swim

This program is oriented towards swimmers who at the Swimmer 5/6 level, have completed Swimmer 6, and/or are progressing thru the Swim Patrol programs (Rookie, Ranger & Star Patrol) and beyond. The program focuses on the improvement of stroke mechanics, maximizing efficiency and endurance. Front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke are the focus of this program, as well as an introduction to butterfly. There will be an emphasis on the individual needs and objectives of each participant. New skill development will focus on competitive swimming skills, such as starts and turns. We offer (3) levels of Power Swimming:

Power Swim I 

  • Introduction to simple flip turns
  • Safe water entries (e.g., feet-first entry)
  • Learn to dive safely from blocks
  • Introduction to the dolphin kick
  • Build endurance to swim 200m
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 50m breaststroke
  • Build endurance and technique to swim  50m backstroke
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 50m kick

Power Swim II

  • Practice one easy backstroke flip turn
  • Introduction to the butterfly stroke
  • Learn the basics of the breaststroke pullout
  • Build endurance to swim 300m
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 100m backstroke
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 50m breaststroke
  • Build endurance and technique to swim100m kick

Power Swim III 

  • Try a 100m IM
  • Practice a backstroke start (completion one time)
  • Build endurance to swim 400m
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 100m backstroke
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 100m breaststroke
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 100m kick on the back
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 100m kick on the front
  • Build endurance and technique to swim 25m butterfly

Fitness Swimmer

The Fitness Swimmer program is for swimmers of any age (10yrs+ recommended or strong ability to swim 25m) who want to improve their overall physical fitness in the water. Fitness Swimmer provides a structured approach to explore;

  • Training principles and practices
  • Using a pace clocks and timers
  • Interval training
  • How to designing swim workouts
  • Setting personal fitness goals

Each session consists of (5) 45 minute classes: $95 + HST.

Note: Refunds or credits for missed private/semi-private or group lessons will not be provided. Make-up lessons can not be arranged, and substitute (non-registered) swimmers are not permitted.
