2025 Ravens Creative Writing & Sports Camp
(Ages 8-14)
The Carleton University Creative Writing and Sports Camp in Ottawa is a fun and friendly day camp for children who want to exercise both their bodies and creative writing skills.
This camp offers a stimulating learning environment where children can learn about and engage in many creative writing activities for kids to discover the joy in writing and the intrigue of language and the confidence of authorship. Healthy minds need healthy bodies, and this creative kids summer camp is unique in that much physical activity is built into each day.
This creative writing camp is a collaborative effort between the Creative Writing Concentration in Carleton’s Department of English Language and Literature and the Carleton Department of Recreation and Athletics.

What happens each day?
Half of the day will be devoted to Creative Writing programming in a Carleton University learning space. There will be writing time structured into activities so that children can experiment with various genres and create their own unique written pieces. At the end of the week, each child will take home a personal portfolio of their camp writing.
The other half of the day is spent playing games and trying new sports (including) a daily swim). Sports and activities will take place in our top tier facilities such as our Ravens Field, TAGG Park (stadium field), Norm Fenn Gym, Fieldhouse and Olympic-sized swimming pool. Children are encouraged to try new activities, and each week, activities are tailored to the abilities of the children. Most importantly, we emphasize being active and having fun!
