2024 Ravens Fencing Camp (Ages 7-12)

Fencing has always been one of the most unique and popular sports at the Ravens sports camps, and this summer we will be offering the opportunity for participants who are interested in fencing to have a more in-depth experience at our fencing summer camp. Half of each day will be dedicated to fencing lessons with our fencing instructors and the other half of the day will be spent on a range of other sport activities taught by our Ravens sports camp counsellors.

The Ravens Fencing Camp is a fun and friendly day camp tailored for active children who are 7 to 12 years old. Campers stay with the same group for the week and follow their own unique group schedule. Campers will be placed in groups of similar age. Parents can request for campers to be placed in the same group as their friends by using the friend request prompt when registering. Please note we do our best to honour all friend requests but they are not guaranteed.

New for 2024: A full cafeteria lunch is INCLUDED with our Ravens Creative Writing & Sports camp.

Registration for our summer land camps opened on Tuesday, January 16 at 9:00am.

All fencing equipment is provided (helmet, gloves, fencing jacket, foil).

The Ravens Fencing Camp & Sports Camp will cost $339. 

Fencing Camp Activities

The aim of this camp is to provide children daily instruction and participation in both fencing and in a range of other sports.

Sports & activities may include:

• Ball Hockey, Basketball, Tchoukball
• European handball, Field Hockey, Soccer
• Touch Rugby, Ultimate, Water Games

The specific activities vary from week to week. We are not able to guarantee that a particular age group will participate in any specific activity in any given week.

Facilities

The Fencing Camp makes use of the full range of Carleton University’s modern indoor and outdoor facilities. Fencing lessons will take place in our varsity fencing room.

For other sports & activities we will use our modern indoor and outdoor facilities, so there is no need to worry about kids being bored if the weather turns bad. Each day we prepare two complete schedules, one including outdoor activities for good days and the other for wet or excessively hot days which takes place entirely indoors. The facilities used include Raven Field, Ravens Perch (stadium field), Fieldhouse, Olympic-sized swimming pool with diving boards, multipurpose rooms and the Norm Fenn Gymnasium.

What’s Included

The registration fee includes a t-shirt, recreational swim and a full cafeteria lunch. Please note our cafeteria does not use any peanut or tree nuts in their recipes, and does not purchase products with peanuts or tree nuts in the ingredient list. However, there is always a risk of cross-contamination due to its open kitchens and self-serve style. Hence, we advise parents of children with food allergies to communicate these allergies to us when registering.

Dates & Times

• Session 1: Aug 12 – Aug 16
• Session 2: Aug 19 – Aug 23
• Session 3: Aug 26 – Aug 30
• The hours of the camp are from 8:30am to 4:30pm daily
  • Drop off is from 8:30am to 9:00am
  • Pick up is from 4:00pm to 4:30pm
  • Drop off & Pick up will take place outdoors on the TAAG Park (stadium field). 
• Optional Early/late care will be offered at a cost of $30 for the week.
  • Early care runs from 7:30am to 8:30am
  • Late care runs from 4:30pm to 5:30pm
