NEW: 2025 Ravens Geography & Sports Camp
(Ages 8-12) – August 18 to August 22, 2025
Our Geography and Sports Camp in Ottawa is an exciting and interactive day camp designed for children eager to explore nature while engaging both their minds and bodies. With a mix of hands-on activities in the great outdoors, on campus, and in the lab, campers will dive into the wonders of the natural world. If your child is curious about streams, soil, plants, animals, and the relationship between nature and people, this STEAM focused camp provides a unique chance to discover the environment around Carleton University.
The Geography and Sports Camp is a collaboration between the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and the Carleton University Department of Recreation and Athletics.

Camp Price (Includes a Cafeteria Lunch)
The Ravens Geography and Sports Camp will cost $384 ($345 for a 4 day camp) and includes a cafeteria lunch.
What happens each day?
Half of the day will focus on geography activities in the physical geography lab, the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) lab, and outdoors around campus. Campers will get hands-on experience with different geography topics, such as studying soil and stream microorganisms, using Google Earth Engine to analyze satellite images, going on a scavenger hunt around campus with maps, and learning about plants and animals in the area, both outside and in the lab.
The other half of the day is spent playing games and trying new sports including a daily swim. Sports and activities will take place in our top tier facilities such as our Ravens Field, TAGG Park (stadium field), Norm Fenn Gym, Fieldhouse and Olympic-sized swimming pool. Children are encouraged to try new activities, and each week, activities are tailored to the abilities of the children. Most importantly, we emphasize being active and having fun!
Age Range
Children who are between 8 and 12 years old. The camp will be split into two groups with each group having a 1-3 year age range.
Geography and Sport Camp Activities
Geography activities will include exploring the physical features of the land and how they impact our daily lives. Campers will study various elements of the environment, from soil and stream microorganisms to the plants and animals living around Carleton University. They will also engage with technology through tools like Google Earth Engine to analyze satellite images. Additionally, hands-on experiences will include a scavenger hunt around campus using maps and identifying natural features outdoors, as well as lab-based activities to learn more about local geography. Weather permitting, there may also be an outdoor excursion to explore nearby geographic landmarks.
Sports & Activities may include playing a number of games and trying different sports such as: Ball Hockey, Basketball, Tchoukball, Field Hockey, Soccer, Ultimate, Track & Field and Water Games.
What’s included
The registration fee includes a t-shirt, recreational swim and a full cafeteria lunch. Please note our cafeteria does not use any peanut or tree nuts in their recipes, and does not purchase products with peanuts or tree nuts in the ingredient list. However, there is always a risk of cross-contamination due to its open kitchens and self-serve style. Hence, we advise parents of children with food allergies to communicate these allergies to us when registering.
Campers will also receive a Ravens branded notebook. Pencils and pens will be provided.
Dates & Times
- Session 1: August 18 to August 22
- The hours of the camp are from 8:30am to 4:30pm daily
- Drop off is from 8:30am to 9:00am
- Pick up is from 4:00pm to 4:30pm
- Drop off & pick up will take place outdoors on TAAG Park (stadium field).
- Optional early/late care will be offered at a cost of $30 for the week.
- Early care runs from 7:30am to 8:30am
- Late care runs from 4:30pm to 5:30pm
