Fitness Centre Attendant Job Description

Fitness Centre Attendants accommodate and work with a very large and diverse membership (in terms of age, fitness level, attitudes, gender, etc) and must ensure the safe functioning of equipment, maintain a high level of customer service, respond to first aid emergencies and provide a clean, safe and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the cardio and resistance training areas, provide assistance to patrons regarding equipment usage and other training related concerns.
  •  Answer personal training related questions, demonstrate movements to patrons and correct poor posture and technique.
  • Assist with research as required regarding fitness centre trends, fitness trends, competitors, etc.
  • Provide information to clients regarding group fitness, personal training and / or other programs in Athletics.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Fitness Center attendants must maintain all required certifications: Personal Training certification or a high level of previous coaching experience & Emergency First Aid.
  • Strong communication skills. The ideal candidate is able to interact and provide direction to clients, as well as communicate with other staff and general community members.
  • Customer Service skills with experience in de-escalation is an asset.
  • Administration skills– monitoring cleaning logs, submitting staff and incident reports when necessary and updating maintenance logs for equipment.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
