Rookie Patrol is the first level of the Lifesaving Society’s 3 level Canadian Swim Patrol Program for swimmers who are ready to go beyond learn-to-swim. In this level, swimmers will focus on stroke refinement and improved physical conditioning, and the introduction to basic first aid and lifesaving skills. They will complete a timed swim of 100m in 3 min, 25m of any lifesaving kick, and a swim workout of 350m. They will learn how to conduct a primary assessment in a lifesaving situation, when and how to call EMS and how to do rescue breathing. Swimmers will be able to simulate and recognize weak vs non-swimmers.
