Ranger Patrol is the second level of the Lifesaving Society’s 3 level Canadian Swim Patrol Program for swimmers who are ready to go beyond learn-to-swim. Swimmers will continue to refine their strokes and underwater skills. They will work on their physical conditioning by supporting a 5-pound object in deep water for 2 minutes, carrying a 5 pound object with lifesaving kick for 25m, and completing a timed swim of 200m in 6 minutes. Swimmers will learn how to conduct a primary assessment on a conscious and cooperative victim, conduct treatment of an obstructed airway, and treat for shock. They will be able to recognize and simulate weak vs non-swimmers vs unconscious swimmers. Swimmers will complete a non-contact, in-water rescue.
