JOB DESCRIPTION – Senior League Organizer, Leagues and Intramurals

Job Title: Senior League Organizer

Term of Position: Sept 2023 – March 2024

Hourly Wage:  $20.00 (plus 4% vacation pay)

Manager’s Job Title:  Assistant Manager, Leagues and Intramurals

Senior League Organizers will work approximately 16-20 hours a week, which will occur during evenings and weekends (5:30pm to 11:30pm).

Senior League Organizers are expected to have availability to work at least three evenings/week.

Job Requirements

– A minimum of two years customer service experience, preferably in a sports and recreation environment.

– Proven leadership and demonstrated initiative. Prior experience in supervision of part-time staff is considered a strong asset.

– High level of professionalism and a strong understanding of conflict resolution and service excellence.

– Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.

Description of Duties:

The Senior Leagues Organizer (SLO) ensures that every League game (Hockey, Basketball, Soccer & Intramurals) follows the Athletics Departments’ customer service standards.  The SLO is expected to act autonomously.

– The SLO oversees League Organizers, Referees and Scorekeepers. Notably, the SLO ensures that staff are present and on time according to the established schedule. In the event of a staff member not being present at the start of their shift, the SLO would contact the staff member, and attempt to find a suitable replacement should the need arise.

– The SLO ensures staff are wearing their uniform using equipment properly and maintaining a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

– The SLO solves issues and delays to ensure that every game and/or program is proceeding on-time, according to the established league schedule.

– The SLO acts as the main point of contact for client interactions, comments and concerns, and resolves conflicts.

– At the end of every shift, the SLO prepares a report indicating:

  • Staff that were late or absent, and staff that were called-in as a replacement; The SLO also updates the staff schedule to reflect those changes;
  • Missing or damaged equipment and additional equipment handed out;
  • Minor and major incidents that occurred during the evening;
  • Any issue that they were not able fully solve on the night and/or requires a follow-up from the Assistant Manager, Leagues and Intramurals;
  • Any other information that they deem important.

– Other related duties as required.
